The 2012 Black Jar Honey Contest winners have been announced! On November 12 in downtown Asheville, NC, forty movers and shakers gathered to blind-taste 40 honey entries from as far away as Alaska. After considerable lip-smaking, the top 3 were chosen.
Top prize was $500, but the prize for the host, the Center for Honey Bee Research, was spreading the word that honey is the ultimate local food. From year to year, you never know what those little worker bees are going to cook up!
